at Nayathode High School, he was recognized as a bright and energetic student who proved his mettle in both curricular and extracurricular activities. After his pre-degree from UC College, he joined IIT Madras in 1998. Due to medical reasons, he left Chennai and joined Regional Engineering College, Calicut (now known as NIT, Calicut) in 1999 for his B. Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
During this period, Rajesh rose in stature as a student leader and showed exemplary organizational abilities. He was elected the Secretary General (equivalent to College Union Chairman) of the first student parliament formed in NIT, Calicut. During the transition of the institute in to a deemed university, Rajesh ably represented the interests of the students and fought for their rights.
